Fellow form 3s , we are barely few weeks away from PMR and I don't feel this rising tension I felt back then during UPSR where we sat in the hall and dilligently doing practice papers given by our dedicated teachers , fast forward to 3 years later a few weeks before PMR and we are in the mini auditorium fiddling with a radio and trying to get 987fm when Good Girls Gone Bad starts playing on Hitz.Fm so we settle for that. Some anonymous people are throwing plastic bottles at each other while many are caught in the crossfire and they retreat to the back of the hall where some are playing cards ( Chor Tai Tee ) and -censored for security- .
Excuse the uh.. lack of punctuation ,
Ever had the chance to whip out your old UPSR papers and laugh at the simplicity of the questions compared to what we are doing now? ( I gave my papers away except for the Science Paper 1 . I improved one mark ( from 29 :D) from 2006 when I re-answered the paper on the 8th of September 2009 .
And remember English ?? They had the Picture and you had to make Five Sentences from them . Because it was such an easy straightforward thing to do , they came up with this Format so us students and our teachers as well had to adhere to the format therefore making less simple .
Same goes for BM ._09633u.jpg)
I don't think I remember the format - something like , write what you see in the picture.
For instance , writing for the picture above.
1. The picture above is Salvador Dali's " Atomicus " , photographed in 1948 . (wrong)
1 . The man, water, cats and objects in the picture above are suspended in mid -air ( correct)
came across this picture a few days back ! Taken by Phillipe Halsman , it explores the idea of suspension . Salvador Dali , the cats and the objects are actually suspended by thin wires
(zoom in on the picture ) , and the water you see there comes from a bucket which was sloshed when Phillipe gave the thumbs-up on one hand and pressed the shutter with the other.
It took 28 attempts for Monsieurs Dali and Halsman to be satisfied with their work .
Result :
1 . Superb picture .
2. Fame
3 . Satisfaction
4. Three very scared cats
5. A Very tired assistant ( you can see his hand holding up the chair prop on the left)
6 . A very wet studio
7 . Dali with tired cheeks ( he smiled the HamSapLou smile for 28 tries )
Moral of the story
1. Never be satisfied and complacent , except for the best and only the best .
2. Never give up .
3 . Vision without action is nothing.
Now, to another topic. While most people are reading academic reading material...
Nightmares and Dreamscapes - Short stories by Stephen King .
* thumbs up*
superb stories. A safe read compared to Carrie .
Dolan's Cadillac , The End of the Whole Mess, Rainy Season , Suffer the Little Children , Chattery Teeth , The Moving Finger , Home Delivery , The House On Maple Street .
Just to name a few.
Reminiscences Of the Cuban Revolutionary War - Ernesto Che Guevara.
An account of the CRW from when the ship Granma carrying the 80 + revolutionaries landed on Cuban shores and were ambushed and escaped with barely 12 men , to their first victory against Batista's army , their days in Sierra Maestra and their victory at Havana - the realization of Cubano Libre - a Cuba free from Batista's dictator government .
It's like reading Kanang and Sejarah - Bab3( Komunis ) . But better.
Don't know who Che is??
There ! Don't tell me you've never seen this pic .
When Alex's hair grows back lebat as ever , we'll get him to pose like that with the SJAM beret and print it on the 2010 Division One shirt ( joking )![]()
The Life of Pi - Yann Martel
This book is quite well-known and once you read it you'll know why .
It tells the story of Piscene Molitor Patel ( who wishes to be know as Pi Patel , because most people call him Pissing Molitor Patel . The Piscene Molitor is a famous swimming pool in France)
from his days in Pondicherry , India to his family's migration to Canada and his 227 days at sea with Richard Parker as company . ( FICTION!! )
Richard Parker is that tiger on the cover by the way .
Overall it's an enjoyable book , one of my faves now. Thumbs up!
oh and someone explain how "(Y) " can mean " thumbs up"??
Because it seriously looks WRONG . It looks like someone's ass and Justin just drew that on the notification for SJAM Div. One AGM 2009 .
" Yes la is thumbs up ."
" HOW? Looks like someone's ass la seriously . Like (Y still not that bad la . Can see somewhat of a thumb"
" yes la , you type (Y) on msn will come out thumbs up .."
OH. I have been enlightened!
means :[ = Bat
and ( sn ) = snail.
WTH.
